TODAY

WHAT WE DO

St. Stephen's Outreach Food Bank is located in Ridgeland, Jasper County, one of the poorest counties in South Carolina. On Monday and Thursday mornings we distribute food to the many individuals and families struggling to make ends meet.  Through the generous weekly donations of local businesses, The Low Country Food Bank, Deep Well and Second Helpings, as well as grant sponsors, The St. Stephen Outreach Food Bank, is able to feed those in need.  See our list of sponsors at right.

How We Are Dealing With Our Current Health Crisis

The St. Stephens U/M/C Outreach Food Bank has been serving Jasper County's local poor for almost twenty years. Today, we are in a critical, global situation with the COVID-19 virus that impacts all of us in many ways, one of which is the loss of jobs to provide for our families.  We are a non-profit, non-discriminatory organization that provides food for those in need.  However, our supplies are in jeopardy and our need is greater than ever.

If you have the ability to donate food, please do so.  This will allow us to continue to help those in dire need.

If you are in need of food, our regular, local clients, who provide proof of Jasper County residency, will be served first.  All other recipients will be required to register and provide proof of residency and will be served on a first-come-first-serve basis.

It is extremely important to us that everyone who needs food will get it. But please keep in mind, that the food you receive is based on the supplies that are being provided to us.

So that everyone gets served, please go to the food bank located closest to your home.  If you have any questions about your eligibility, please call Helen at 843-263-5779.

In coordination with government health guidelines regarding safe food handling and an abundance of caution, our procedures have changed as follows:  All recipients will be required to wear a mask, stay in their cars and queue up to receive their food. NO PERSONAL BAGS OR BOXES will be allowed.  All food will be distributed in new white plastic bags and placed in your open trunk or handed to you through an open window.  NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE WILL BE ACCEPTED.  ANYONE CREATING A DISTURBANCE WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE PREMISES AND THE PROPER AUTHORITIES WILL BE CALLED.
